1507 - Request for Qualifications for Trade Contractors - South High Community School

Plans and Specifications will be available Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the Department of Public Works and Parks, Architectural Services, 50 Skyline Drive, Worcester, MA 01605, Phone: (508) 799-8588, Fax: (508) 799-8188.

 ALL BIDDERS MUST BE PRE-QUALIFIED

1. A refundable plan deposit in the form of a company check (cash not accepted), without date restrictions, payable to “City of Worcester” in the amount of $800.00 per set for up to three (3) sets is required. Deposits shall be returned to the bidders who return the complete sets, including any addenda issued, in good condition to the Department of Public Works and Parks, Architectural Services, 50 Skyline Drive, Worcester, MA 01605 within thirty (30) days after the bid opening.

2. If plans and specifications are requested to be mailed, a separate non-refundable shipping and handling/mailing fee in the form of a company check payable to “City of Worcester” in the amount of $250.00 is required per set.

3. Plans and specifications are also available at: http://bids.worcesterma.gov/ ALL bidders are required to register to receive addenda. For any bid or document and any addenda that are received electronically, it is the responsibility of every bidder who receives this bid and all associated documents to check this website for any addenda. The City of Worcester accepts no liability to provide accommodation to bidders who submit a response based upon information obtained from its website. Bidders may not alter (manually or electronically) the bid language or any bid documents. Unauthorized modifications to the body of the bid, specifications, terms or conditions, which change the intent of this bid are prohibited and will disqualify a response.

4. A “Contractor’s Plans and Specifications Request Form” is required to be filled out to obtain plans and specifications via the Architectural Services Division.  Forms are available at the Department of Public Works and Parks, Architectural Services, 50 Skyline Drive, Worcester, MA 01605, Phone: (508) 799-8588, Fax: (508) 799-8188.

   1. After receipt of Contractor’s Plans and Specifications Request Form, deposit and mailing fee, plans and specifications will be shipped via UPS

City of Worcester Department of Public Works & Parks requests that qualified and experienced Trade Contractors submit Trade Contractor Statement of Qualifications Forms no later than 11:00 am, Wednesday November 21, 2018.  The RFQ is available at http://bids.worcesterma.gov/. beginning Wednesday, November 07, 2018, or by contacting the City’s Project Manager, Jeremy C. Trade Contractor Statement of Qualifications Forms from interested Trade Contractors are sought for the following categories of work: Masonry (ECC $3,550,000), Miscellaneous and Ornamental Iron (ECC $2,055,000), Waterproofing, Damp-proofing, Caulking (ECC $1,745,000), Roofing and Flashing (ECC $4,250,000), Metal Windows (ECC $4,185,000), Glass and Glazing (ECC $400,000), Tile (ECC $3,000,000), Acoustical Ceilings (ECC $2,400,000), Resilient Flooring (ECC $3,000,000), Painting (ECC $985,000), Elevators (ECC $350,000), Fire Protection (ECC $1,750,000), Plumbing (ECC $5,820,000), HVAC (ECC $16,000,000),  Electrical (ECC $19,500,000).

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The City of Worcester is proposing to construct a new high school at 170 Apricot St in Worcester, MA.  The City is currently engaged with the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) to construct a new South High Community School in Worcester, MA. The proposed South High Community School project is comprised of several phases, with the construction site located in a densely populated neighborhood, adjacent to the rear of the existing high school, which will remain occupied during construction. The South High has a large student population and requires coordination and accommodation of special education busses, traditional busses, as well as afterschool van and parent pickup. Work on site began in June of 2018.
